Greg, I love the posts and the wonderful history you are keeping alive. I've been a lover of OTR since I was a teen and I"m so glad I stumbled upon your radio show a few years ago. I'd love to learn more about the sound effect folks or "foley artists". Any info or references books you could recommend would be welcomed. Keep up the good work.

Keep those behind-the-scenes pictures coming! You'd almost expect Silver and Scout to be among those guys, ready to whinny when required. I agree with krb that it would be great to know more about the sound effects wizards... any picture of them at work?

The sound effects guys are just incredible aren't they? I read somewhere that they really got specialized. One guy would do baby sounds and another guy would do certain kinds of walks, etc Greg, It's cool seems like you are gathering folks here from your work on When Radio Was, not just us XMer's ! We are off to the World War II Weekend at Reading Airport tomorrow.

Dear Greg, I go to bed everynite listening to all the radio shows which bring back ever so many memories. I was raised up in the error of radio and since most of us tended to listen to our favorites, I'm getting to hear the ones I missed. I NEVER dreamed that in the 21st century I would hear these radio shows and the music of the 40's. I LOVE xm radio!!! Also all the history you give about the shows. I'm reliving my youth. Thanks Ginger Treppeda

Love OTR. Born in 1940 it is easy for me to be so enamoured with this medium. My favorites are Gunsmoke, Johnny Dollar, Suspense, Green Hornet, and any of the adventure variety. I was wondering if there's any "Straight Arrow, Tom Mix, and have I missed Gene Autry (brought to you by Wrigley's Spearming Gum)?

Greg, I am a huge fan of the Radio Shows. I was born in 1968 and the radio shows were basically obselete by then, it was all tv. I love the Lone Ranger, that has to be my favorite of all. I also like the comedies, The Life of Riley, The Jack Benny Show, Fibber McGee and Molly, The Great Gildersleeve and Our Miss Brooks. I also like most of the westerns like Gunsmoke and Have Gun Will Travel. I listen to this station more than any station on my XM Radio. Great job on the Blog site and keep up the good work.

Hi Greg! I just wanted to say that I was in Radio back in the 80's and loved every minute of it, but could'nt afford to stay in it at the time...a son to raise... but production and voices werte my thing....and when i discovered Radio Classics and started listening regularly It brought back all those voices I do and still love to do...such as Jimmy Stewart! Your show is fantastic too! I find the actors of today can't even compare to the actors of then...When I listen to 163, there nothing compared to then....Harry Nile is the best thing going thereand Celestial Navigations! The inflection and attitude the the actors on 164 put into there parts, and all the sound effects are excellent! When I was in broadcasting school, I was the only one dragging in saws and boards and "Things" to make sound effects for my promos and spots....The others thought I was nuts....But I was top 3 in the class! Keep up the good work and keep the info coming....It's also amazing how much none of the actors really look like they sound! XM Rocks!! Maybe someday I will be the new John Dahner!
