I often wondered what Paula Winslowe looked like. I am not disappointed and in that picture, Paul Frees IS The Man in Black. Awsome pics Greg. I also wanted to say That I listened to your fathers picks yesterday afternoon while I was have a drink and suning myself in the back yard. What a relaxing 2 hours.

Looking forward to this weeks Schedule

Loved the JOHNNY DOLLAR 5 parter this morning. Jack Kruschen was great as the police lieutenant. Took up almost my entire commute from the Catskills!

Thanks for the pics! How come no one ever looks like they sound? Haha
I picture Paula older.
Heard the merger is over another hurdle with FCC. I just hope nothing changes on my all time favorite channel...
Keep up the great programming.

I happened to catch some of the shows that have been made into films and the like. The Great Guildersleeve was one, not what I thought he looked like. Thought he was more of a large booming man. Had an actor in mind, but don't know his name. Then they also had The Whistler. I think it was on AMC or one of Turners channels, it was several months ago. I am not sure I want to know what some look like at times.

I had a question on The Wizard of Oz, not sure if it was talked about on the show, but who played the supporting cast?

Hi, Greg! I also loved the shows your dad picked. But what I liked more was your asking him to select his favorites. That was a very nice thing to do and I'll bet he got a kick out of it. Something tells me he likes westerns? If you haven't been, then make sure you get to Wyoming before you go to that great Radio Studio in the sky - WHVN. Wyoming is one of the prettiest, most majestic places on the planet.
RE: Sherlock Holmes. I love SH - I've been a fan for years. Question: How come you never play Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce? I love BR though I'm not as crazy about NB - he seems like a buffoon and Dr. Watson was never a buffoon. I loved David Burke and Edward Hardwicke, who played Watson next to the late (and GREAT) Jeremy Brett's Holmes.
I'm also curious about how you are able to play the opening theme of the Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes? I love that music and admit I was surprised when I heard that familiar theme.
Keep up the good work - especially the literary plays, the mystery stuff, the horror shows, the detectives and the westerns. They're all GREAT! -- Rosemary

170+ channels I have on my XM, and I listen to ONE !
Don't know what I would do without the great stories. I have an 85 mile per day ride and the stories are a wonderful way to spend time in traffic and prevent road rage !
I have just ordered and received a Boom Box for my RoadieXT and can now carry my stories evrey where I go !!
Love the pics, as others have said , the pics do not match the mental images I get of the actors.

I see that Miss Gregg was a very snappy looking lady in her day. Great Picture Greg. Also, great Jack Benny episodes this week. I love the "Your Money or Your life" bit. It's right up there with Aboot & Costello's Who's on first bit. Have a great day everyone.

Is it my imagination or was Virginia Gregg pretty much a regular in all or most of the yours truly johnny dollar (5 part) series.. she was in 3 that I listened to on saturday.. The Confidential Matter, The Cranesburg Matter, and the Matter of the Medium Well Done.

I've been racking the internet to find out who plays detective Randy Singer on that show though...he sounds real familiar, if I didn't know any better I'd swear it was Lloyd Nolan.

Still wondering about something: I had e-mailed you about a question I have about Paula Winslowe and Marian Jordan (Molly Mcee). I often detect an Irish accent when they both speak. So much so that it makes me wonder if they were Irish immigrants or at least first generation Irish. Greg? Anybody?

Chris in Indy - It is unlikely that it was Lloyd Nolan, namely because by the late 1950s - he doesn't appear to have been doing any radio work. I will keep digging for that answer though.

Brett - All I know is that both were American born. While Marian's maiden name Driscoll is of Irish origin, I believe Winslowe is English. So it's possible. Maybe someone else out there can give you more.

Greg.

I love this channel. Being thirty-nine years old, I completely missed the Golden Age of radio, but I'm no less mourning the passing of this great medium's richest hey day. I probably enjoy the comedies the best with The Great Gildersleeve, The Life of Riley, and the Phil Harris Show being my favorites. I also enjoy the five episode Johnny Dollar marathons and Gunsmoke has to be one of the best acted and written shows of any medium. It's amazing to me to see a show from such a relatively early period in pop culture tackle such sophisticated topics as domestic violence and racism ...and they did it without ever getting preachy. See? It wasn't all cowboys and indians, folks!

As an artist I work at home and spend long hours at my drawing board. Greg Bell and his channel have become my companions as I work late into the night. Thank you, Greg ...and please keep up the trivia at the beginning and end of every episode. As a big trivia buff, I truly enjoy those. Thanks again!

Listening to your channel makes me realize what a magical time the Golden Age of Radio must have been! I am only in my 40's -so to have the opportunity to go back in time and relive what it must have been like to gather with the family around the radio and listen to one great classic after another is priceless! I listen to 164 all the time-it is an escape as well as a comfort. Please don't change a thing! I love the website and all the great pictures-Thanks for everything!

Why is it that I cannot access OTR on the PC. I have called XM and was given no answer. Possibly you can give this one to me. Thank you very much. Stuart
