by gregbell 7/2/2008 9:19:00 AM

The web folks at XM must be a little bogged down so here is the one page printable schedule for next week. I'll try to always post it here on the blog ASAP.

Hi Greg,

Having been thru mergers and acquisitions before, and seeing that you have now created this blog (THANK YOU!) to keep everyone informed of changes with the channel, it begs the question: How WILL the Sirius merger affect our beloved channel 164? Is there any danger in it being eliminated?

Thanks for all the work you do with OTR.

Sincerely,

Jeff Foreman
Arizona Listener since 2005

Hi Greg,

I just visited your blog for the first time yesterday... thanks for setting it up! I've been a loyal Radio Classics listener since March 2005, and just want to tell you what an excellent job you're doing. As an entrepreneur setting my own schedule, it sure is nice to take a bit of a break to indulge in some OTR now and then. Smile

I want to especially thank you for the extremely powerful Family Theatre and Escape programs you played back to back yesterday, (July 2). What a poignant and striking hour of radio! I was so moved by the wonderful adaptation of "The Outcasts of Poker Flat" that I reread the Bret Harte short story last night, for the first time in many years.

Keep up the fantastic work, Greg!

Warmest Wishes,
Kim Loftis, North Carolina

Hi, Greg! I could not view the 2 schedules you put up on the blog. It looks like a technical thing; my computer said something like the format for radio classics was invalid.
I hope you had a good Independence Day! I wanted to send you an Ecard but I couldn't send it to the blog so see if you can pick up my good wishes telepathically!
LOVED the Suspense episode with Sir Cedric Hardwicke! He was always a favorite of mine, especially in "The Ten Commandments" (he palyed Yul Brynner's father, Sethi) and "Keys of the Kingdom." His voice was always the same but he never looked like Sir Cedric. Do you know what I mean? I mean, Julie Andrews is always Julie Andrews, whether she's in "Hawaii," "The Sound of Music" or "SOB." But Sir Cedric isn't like that. He also wrote a book in 1964 titled "A Victorian in Orbit." Lots of fun. Good stuff.
July 6 is Cathy O'Donnell's birthday. She'd be 85 had she lived but she died on her wedding anniversay in 1970. She'd had a cerebral hemorrhage due to complications from cancer. She played Wilma in "The Best Years of Our Lives" and she played Tirzah in "Ben-Hur." She was very feminine, pretty and sweet-looking. She also was a good actress; she had roles in some film noir classics but I havent seen them enough to comment. Aren't you glad?! All my best, Greg, and thanks again for such wonderful programming. "God Bless!" Rosemary

Greg,
Thanks for the schedules in Excel! My 42 year old eyes thank you -- the print is much easier to read when I print it.

Looking forward to more great shows!

i don't think greg can comment on the possible changes, unfortunately. probably a corporate gag order kind of thing
I"m guessing that since both have an OTR channel we won't lose it. We just better not lose Greg!!

I agree John. Sirius's OTR is very lame. No color comentary like Greg. I also hope that when they merge it won't affect Greg, but in a way it will. He will have doubled his Audience, thus his Fan Base. I belive he has much to look forward to.

Question. Why isen't my gravatar icon not showing up? The site has my picture. Many must have the same problem as me because I see all these blank faces, LOL.

It's not only the programming on 164 but Greg's insight and background that keeps us as avid listeners (to 164 and to XM)! Keep up the good work and I hope The Suits know how valuable Greg is..

John, Bill and Cheri,

I couldn't agree more. I am sure that execs, as we speak, are determining strategies and programming. I believe OTR has a marketable future. I am seeing more and more references to OTR in the MSM. Folks like Greg will be viewed as the pioneers of the resurgence of the art. I am looking forward to many more years of rebroadcasts, analysis, and even remakes of the golden age of radio.
