Greg, I would like to suggest an episode of Gunsmoke I listened to in my private collection last night. It is called "Reward for Kite," and it instantly became one of my favorites. It really explores the demons that Matt carries with him at all times, and by doing the right thing, it ends up biting Matt in the butt. I think that episode exemplifies the superiority of the radio show to the TV show. Now I say that by never seeing the early GS episodes since TV Land only plays the later episodes and in my opinion, no Chester=No Gunsmoke, but I digress. William Conrad's always wonderful playing of Dillon is always great and was even better in "Reward for Kite."

Hi, Gang! It's always great when people share their favorite episodes of shows. Matt, did you ever hear an episode of GS titled simply "Tara"? It's very good and I recommend it highly. I enjoy the show "Lights Out" and this week, Greg played one of my favorite episodes titled "Scoop." That one is really scary and I could relate to it becuse I worked in the newspaper industry for 30 years. Another "LO" episode I really love is "Revolt of the Worms." Oh, man, that would scare the stuffing out of anyone who hears it! Another show that has grown on me is "Have Gun, Will Travel" and my favorite episode from that show is "Winchester Quarantine." Quite a show - both GS and HGWT show the hero as flawed and that makes him much more human. I like that; save the perfect heroes for shows like "Superman" and "Batman." I hope The Long Ranger once again rides onto the airwaves; I miss it. And you now, I'm glad Greg plays GS and HGWT almost every week; a week withoutthose shows is an empty week indeed!

Hi Greg,All I can say is thank you. Growing up while attending large family gatherings, my brother, older cousins and our parents would talk about the Green Hornet, Hopalong Cassidy, Gunsmoke all of which transpired on radio before I was old enough to enjoy. I have 2 hours of driving time each day to work and home. I am addicted to the classic radio channel, its what I listen to 95% of the time. I am in love with Fibber McGee & Molly, Gildersleeve, Gunsmoke and well most everything....lol Thank you again for bringing old time radio into my life. I LOVE IT!!!Cindy

Hello Greg: I was listening to "Gunsmoke" on (as they used to say) "another network" this morning while tuning on the Free To Air Satellite TV system I have. Doc is racing to help someone out and comes across an outlaw who threatens to shoot his horse..when the outlaw shoots Doc's horse, Doc kills the outlaw..When Matt and Chester find Doc, he has missed his chance to save his patient's life..Matt tells Doc, "The day I have to arrest you is the day I resign"..Didnt listen to the whole episode, but I imagine it's left for Doc to prove he shot the outlaw in self defense..

Hi, Greg! Great shows this week and am also looking forward to "A Woman's Face" and the "Superman" marathon next week. While I appreciate you telling us Sir John Gielgud played the pope in a movie whose name has slipped my mind, let me be the first to remind you he also played the pope in another movie, made in 1968. In the truly marvelous (in my humble opinion) movie "The Shoes of the Fisherman," which starred a plethora of greats - Anthony Quinn as the first Russian pope; David Janssen as the American reporter;Oskar Werner as the Jesuit author whose works are banned inthe church, and Leo McKern. Sir John Gielgud played the pope who dies early in the film (which is why Anthony Quinn's character becomes pope). His pope character is never even named in the movie and I don't recall (I haven't gotten that far) if he is named in the book on which the movie is based. This is your trivia for the day! Enjoy! The reason I remember Sir John's character in TSOTF is that he reminds me of Pope Paul VI, a pope I never liked. (It seems as if he were modeled after PPVI though I believe the book was published before PPVI was named pope). I do like Sir John, however and he was delightful in "Arthur." I'm glad he got the Oscar for that. I also enjoy his "Sherlock Holmes" though Basil Rathbone and Jeremy Brett will always be the definitive Sherlock Holmes for me.

Greg, Has any consideration been given to putting the Old Time Radio programs on via the Internet so we can hear them through our computers? There is currenly a lot of music and family programs, and Old Time Radio was on at one time for about two weeks, but it was taken off. Thanks.

Michael, At this point in time Radio Classics is not allowed online due to legal broadcasting and royalty rights issues. Hopefully something can be worked out with our content provider in the future to get the remedied. It is something I strongly would like to see occur as well and I will continue to push for it. Greg.

Hi Greg, Not nearly enough gunsmoke on your show, and we definately need more episodes of Six Shooter, but I am not complaining. This Classic Radio is amazing to still have on the air, so thanks a lot. Glen

I am not much of a guy who thinks in so deeply about web design but I think your post had some valid points in it. Like designers are forced to design stuff within the limited code available and not go beyond it, their innovation is somewhat limited but still I think Web Design won't die! I agree that Amazon and other some big sites won't have a blog but now a days it's very important to have some sort of option available so people can quickly communicate their thoughts. I think Amazon if wants to shift it to that, they can get a customized CMS for themselves.
