Thank you for putting "faces to the voices" of the Flintstones
cast. No wonder Betty Rubble was my favorite character! I
had no idea Bea Benedaret portrayed her.

Regarding Marie Wilson... she appeared on Bob & Ray's local
Boston radio program while promoting the "My Friend Irma"
movie in the early 1950s.

She was "in character" at first, making malaprops a mile a
minute, mis-pronouncing the names of local landmarks, and
generally sounding ditzy.

THEN she switched to Marie Wilson, actress, and was witty,
intelligent and likeable. Bob Elliott interviewed her, and
sounded skeptical at first. By the end of the show, he was
sold on her, and urged listeners to see her movie.

Somehow you just never imagine the voices behind the shows looking like Marie Wilson....J. Carroll Naish and Hans Conried yes.....but I digress.

Betty Rubble always was The Hottie of the show, wasn't she, Jim?

The faces of these guys, and gals, all fit the voices, for me. Doesn't always work that way in radio.

Speaking of radio comics, does anybody here know anything more about Senor Lee, the south-of-the-border wiseacre guitarist in Artie Shaw's band in their season or two on Burns & Allen? Occasionally, I think he sounds like Mel Blanc, who could do that ethnicity to a tee, and who did voice Burns & Allen characters, but I don't it's a Mel Match; you can usually pick Mel out a mile away. Whoever did the Senor Lee character had great timing and garnered a lot of laughs that still hold up well today. I've searched the guy on teh interwebs and can't find any more information about him. Would appreciate any additional info.

Wow! Having listened (and laughed) to Bill Thomson (especially as Wallace Wimple), it was a nice surprise to see what he really looks like. In SUNSET BOULEVARD, Gloria Swanson's character stated, "We had faces then". Well, these folks pictured on Greg's blog had VOICES then. Who would have thought that the old timer was a young guy?

First off thanks for the link of the videw with Mel Blanc, Jack Benny, and Johnny Carson. Those were the days of REAL entertainment.

I was wondering, what did they record all the old time radio shows on? I have to agree that Marie Wilson was a HOTTIE!!! Va Va and Voom.
