There should be two old time radio channels so we have a choice. I like all of the mystery, cowboy, variety, comedy, adventure radio shows. Since the comedy channel is now predominately current comedy routines there is nowhere to go to hear the old-time comedy routines that are real classics. I would like to hear more Jonathan Winters, Smothers Brothers, Bob Newhart, Shelly Berman, etc. Which of us from the 50’s and 60’s will not remember routines about “mom always loved you best”, “pet chicken”, John Henry”, “embarrassing moments”, pilgrims and tobacco, the prisoner and the warden, and the plate glass window. What happened to Art Linkletter and “Kids Say the Darndest Things”. Your program is great but it could be so much more if there were two channels.

Any word on Christmas in July- 2009? I have not been able to listen for a couple weeks, so I don't know if I have missed the news.

Enjoy all the shows, Vic and Sade are favorites of mine. I have hundreds of hours of old radio shows on reel to reel tape. Does anybody know of a practical way to transfer to CD?

So nice to hear that other old time radio fanatics are out there! I wanted to add my appreciation for all the extra research that Greg provides about the shows and the actors -- he absolutely does fantastic work -- thank you. All the Eliot Lewis shows a couple weeks just made my days! I think there have been some new episodes to shows that I haven't heard before -- is it just me?

I record my favorite shows to listen later. A few times and even this week, a show will run past the hour or half hour and I end up missing the most important part of the show "the end". Is there any way Greg, not to have the shows run over the hour or half hour mark?????

Lana,Unfortunately the answer is no. The running times for these programs varies quite a bit as we have been supplied episodes with various total broadcast times and since we try to play as much as we can, the longer shows will sometimes run past. This is the primary reason why the channel is constructed in two hour blocks. This makes sure that at the top over every even numbered hour Eastern Time (and Mountain - therefore every odd numbered hour Central and Pacific) the "anchor" show starts exactly on time. Then it is followed by usually three more programs one after the other. Most of my listeners who record shows just make sure they use the two hour structure and set up the recording that way and they will be sure to hear their entire show.Sorry

Lana, When I record shows I always have them stop recording 5 minutes after the hour or half hour. For instance, say I'm recording Dragnet & it's on from 2:00 AM to 2:30 AM. I scedule it from 2:00 AM to 2:35 AM. I have the Inno which allows me to do that. I don't know if you can do that or not. That way I'm assured to catch the last part of the show. Afterwords I go through and delete all the commercials. I don't delete the intro's or the information at the last part of the show because Greg gives some intersting information (Besides, if I did that I wouldn't want Greg to BAN me from the Blog site,...Just kidding Greg). Greg, I was wondering, do you have a favorite Old Time Radio Show? If so what is it? I was also wondering, the shows that are picked, do you pick them and do you and your staff listen to them before you schedule them? One more question, I take it there is no update on The Lone Ranger Kemosabe.

Thanks for the pictures. It's great to be able to put a face to the fabulous voices. I would really like to see one of Bob Bailey. I had my brother listen to a Johnny Dollar Marathon and now he's hooked.

For Dennis Cox, XM151 is the comedy channel (don't know the sirius channel) and Smothers Brothers, Bob Newhart, Shelly Berman, etc, are constantly featured. The late Art Linkletter was a sharp business man, so I suspect his estate keeps a tight reain on "Kids say the Darndest Things". When Disneyland opened Art was the master of ceremonies for the TV coverage, which he did in exchange for the camera and film concession at the park. Obviously he made a bundle of cash for many years.

Hi, Bob Irish. Thanks for the tip to allow 5 minutes of runover when recording. I always allowed a minute over. I am glad to know that the programs are broadcasted in their entirety because I think more people would be upset if it was chopped up. Greg, I do have a question about the commercials though. Why are some stations commercial-free and others aren't. After all we pay for a subscription. Gosh those commercials are so annoying. How many times do you want to hear that you have spackle in your colon and are offered a product to flush it out. I delete the commercials too, Bob.
