Love the pics this week. Loving that there is a new Johnny Dollar marathan. Greg, you sure know how to help a girl out! Love that some of my other favs are on this week: Suspense, Crime Classics, Inner Sanctum, Blackstone, ect. Really enjoying the Whisperer, too.

On a side note, my hubby is not a huge fan of the comedies and usually asks me to turn off the XM when one comes on, but he totally loves Life With Luigi, Jack Benny, Charlie McCarthy, and It's Higgins, so I really appreciate that you have been playing those pretty regularly.

Hi Greg, and everyone here at OTR. The Academy Awards are coming and I think this year we should all put forth 5 names of the Radio Personalities that we like. Since this would be the first year, let’s just start with just 1 category. Greg can maybe put out a video (maybe on youtube) and make the presentation for the 2010 Radio Academy Award. Maybe this sound hokey, but I think it would be fun to see which 5 everyone puts forth. It could be a comedian, male, female. It can cover all categories. Here are my 5.

1. Jack Benny. Here is without a question one of the best radio star’s of the day. His radio programs were hilarious then and now. His Christmas shows were unforgettable. Another reason I put his name up was something that Greg told us. Jack Benny always had a Rose sent to his wife, Mary every week. When he passed away, the roses continued to come. When Mary call the florist to inform them of this, they said that Mr. Benny took care of this before he died (if I have this wrong Greg, let me know). Any man who was that funny when he was alive and that kind in death deserves to be on my list.

2. Bob Hope. Another great comedian. I always love the way Hope and Crosby played off each other. Hope never had the movie career that Crosby had, but his radio shows were wonderful, and the reason for this was that most of them were done on Military Bases. He was our Tokyo Rose, but instead of threatening the enemy like Tokyo Rose, he bolstered up the troops with laughter. He went to where they were fighting and put on great shows with Hollywood star’s that he would bring along. He did just as much to win WW 2 then any solider with a rifle or airman with a plane, and he continued to do this up thru the Vietnam war.

3. William Conrad. The original Matt Dillon. Too bad his facial features could not transcend to T.V. Every episode of Gunsmoke was remarkable thanks to this man. I forget how many Radio Episodes he was in, but I know I heard a number from Greg that was unbelievably high. I think I also heard from Greg that he served in WW 2 as an aviator. Not only a great radio star, but a patriot also. Yup, the Marshall deserves to be on my list

4. Bill Johnston. The Shadow, though not the original, he took that character and made it his own. He was also in many other programs , like Escape and Suspense. Out of the 5 I am listing, he may be my weakest nominee, but I still think he deserved to be on my list

5. Orson Well’s. Mercury Theater, The Black Museum, and his Third Man series were and still are Gem’s. His broadcast of “The War of The Worlds” will never be forgotten and may go down as the most unforgettable broadcast ever. Mr. Well’s voice in my opinion was the BEST voice on Radio. He also did some great radio broadcasts during WW 2. Some may call them propaganda broadcasts, I call them patriotic. He also had a wonderful film career.

Those are my 5 nominee’s. Who are yours?

My 5 nominees for what I call the Golden Radio Mic Awards, male category are:

2.) William Conrad
3.) Orson Welles
4.) Bill Johnstone
5.) Greg Bell

George

I was going to suggest Mel Blanc, but I think he should go under the category of Best Supporting Actor. Yes, he has his own show, but he supports so many shows with his different voices.

There probably should be many categories. Perhaps Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting (Actor/Actress) for each of Comedy, Crime Drama, Suspense Drama, SciFi and Western

As for Greg Bell, he deserves a life-time achievement award.

Sorry you are having a bad time in DC Greg. NY and Long Island got hit today with a whopper of a storm, but nothing like you guys in DC are going thru. I hope you have a fireplace. If you do Light it up and put on OTR. That's what I did today. And George, I figured that since this is the first year we should stick with just 1 caragory. That way we will have a whole year to make up new catagories for the 2011 awards. If Greg is open to the Idea.

Hi, Bill! I nominated Greg Bell for the Radio Golden Mic Award because of his work but I like your idea better --- a Lifetime Achievement Award.
5 Best Actress Females:
1.) Peggy Webber
2.) Agnes Moorehead
3.) Eve Arden
4.) Lucille Ball
5.) Mary Livingston.

Best Radio Shows:
1.) Gunsmoke
2.) X Minus One
3.) Have Gun, Will Travel
4.) Lux Radio Theater
5.) Our Miss Brooks
I also want to add "The Whistler" and "Suspense," 2 of my all-time FAVORITE shows.
Sorry for anyone who is enduring this awful snowstorm! It's so bad here in NJ --- it's up to my greyhound's abdoman! She's so cute though - she still tries running in it. The girl's got gumption. Thanks for next week's sked, Greg - it looks really terrific, especially since you're playing "The Count of Monte Cristo" with ORSON.

I officially gave up with making loot with websites dawning 2010 when I decided to take another entry to making money and not working for a boss. This is when I met James aka 'The Prophet'. James is good at mathematics and he has applied his skills at trading penny stocks. I started trading alongside James and so far I'm having monstrous results. I initially invested $100 which has now grown to $180 in just over a month. How is that for a serious return? I invite all to enlist in the program and receive daily trading instructions directly in your inbox. You can even give James a call. You don't have to know how the stockmarket works. You can get trading within an hour, PennyStockProphet Join the program, it's risk free, you receive a 2 month money-back guarantee if you don't make your money back.
