Wow...the comments section of the site was down for a long time....

I think I'll wait until the new site is up and running...

Nice picture for Lou in Patterson. I really loved him regardless of behind the scenes issues. He was very funny and I can still watch his movies today and laugh just as hard. I actually have Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein in my desk at this very moment on DVD....

We are building up to Oscar night on Sunday March 7th

HEY! For once, something of note is happening on my birthday! Not that I watch the Oscars, but it is rare that anything happens on that calender day. The invention of the telephone is the only thing of note I can recall. That and when Greg mentioned that "The Count of Monte Cristo" was recorded on that day. I should be glad that nothing infamous has occurred on that date :0

Anyway Greg, thanks for tinkering with the schedule. I have found that I am able to hear the entire week of shows with few repeats due to your efforts. It must be like trying to synchronize traffic signals in a city - someone is always going to curse that one untimely red light that inevitably has to be there for the rest of the system to work. My hat is off to you!

Going back a couple of weeks, you had two really spooky psycho thrillers; "Murder out of Mind" from Murder at Midnight and a suspense episode with Lana Turner. Both were chilling to me.

I never tire of "Johnny Dollar" marathons, "Broadway is my Beat," which has the best writing and those similes are to die for, Jack Benny humor is timeless and of course we could use "I was a Commie for the F.B.I." today more than ever!

Thanks so very much Greg!

Bud: Only one "t" in Paterson.
Lou: Waddya mean only one tea? What if we both want tea?

Like your jokes/quips RE: Paterson with one t/tea. Very good, Bill!
Last week was terrific, Greg - what with "National Velvet," "I, Mary Peabody" and other remembrances of Elizabeth Taylor's birthday. She was and remains a great, great lady.
Glad to see you are remembering one of my favorites, Virginia Gregg. I remember her more from TV - "Dragnet" and even the 1st episode of "Columbo" ("Prescription Murder," where she played the killer's secretary). And thanks for remembering Gale Gordon. I love him as Mr. Conklin in "Our Miss Brooks."
So pleased to see you're airing TWO Bette Davis tales this week - 2 of my favorite BD movies - "All About Eve" and "The Little Foxes." But my favorite BD movies of all time are, in addition to those 2, "Now, Voyager" and "The Letter" ("with all my heart, I still love the man I killed." My all-time favorite line from any BD movie ... it's from "The Letter").
I'd love to hear more Family Radio Theater. And, Greg, did I ever thank you properly for remembering Fr. Peyton a few weeks ago? That was a real treat and I'd love to hear more from his shows.
I know, Greg, you always honor your father on Father's Day by airing his favorite shows (I still have the list from last year). Will/could you do the same thing for your mother for Mother's Day? I guess I'm sensitive to that because I lost my mother in 1991 and I always think mothers should be honored.

Lana,

I'm still here but having the comments section down means not only can't I write but you can't read them either. I only have certain times of the day I come on and lately the comments section has been down...

I know Greg is trying and his workload in actually very large but the current blog site issues make it tough for us regulars and for newbees it must be impossible.

I am ready to start buying the Lone Ranger collections from RadioSpirits......this issue is unreal....

Greg: Any updates on the new site? Those St. Louis Cardinals tickets at Pittsburgh are going to go fast....

Greg,

Looks like the cockroach spammers have infiltrated again. I hope the new site will have a password or some way to keep these parasites from clogging the forum. However, I love to punish them! Nothing like burning spam in the morning! I could get these criminals if I only had the message source code, Hehehe...

Anyway, so far been enjoying a great week of programming Greg. I can not remember which show it is that Edmond O'Brien was starring in lieu of the other star, Dick Powell (I think), point is, O'Brien doesn't come close to the original portrayed of that series. Just my opinion, perhaps others think different, but there isn't the same timing and grit.

Sorry I can't remember the show or even the name of the person he replaced. Oh well, back to work.

Warmest regards.

Greg,

I think I caught you this morning after the Bud and Lou episode with Sam Shovel. You said the boys were coming off the success of Abbott & Costello meet Frankenstein. I think you also said Boris Karloff was in that movie. He was not in this movie. Glenn Strange played the monster. I actually have the movie on DVD in my desk and checked....

Glenn Strange trivia: Did you know he played Sam the bartender during the early years of Gunsmoke on TV?

Michael,

Ah my own personal fact-checker!

Yes, you are correct on both counts - Strange was in the movie and at 6'5" was pretty much the only cast member on TV's Gunsmoke who could look James Arness in the eye.

Mea culpa.

Greg.

I'm an engineer....some things just click and stay with you...

I can't keep yesterday straight so a movie from 60 years ago...well, I only caught it because I love the old Universal monster movies but I did not like Glenn Strange as the monster....

Not to worry Greg...I don't get any flack for being wrong at home since it happens so often. My wife throws parties when I am right....I think she does...hopefully I will find out some day.

Have fun...Thanks,

What would you expect to pay for technology that allows you to access the best that television has to offer? Even spending several hundred dollars on a one time fee would add up to thousands of dollars in savings when compared to the thousands you will likely spend on cable subscription services over the next few years.
