The photo of Bob Bailey suggests a family connection with Eddie Haskell. Maybe it's just the haircut.

Key Largo is a favorite Bogart movie and it has it all: great stars, good story and a hurricane. It's way too hot and humid to wear a necktie! Good Lux presentation, even though Bogie and Betty aren't present, but Edward G. makes up for it.

Hi, Gang! I'm thrilled to see "My Little Margie" on next week's schedule. I'm curious as to how the radio show compares with the TV show, which I loved when I was a child. Gale Storm and Charles Farrell worked off each other very well.
Lately, Encore's Western Channel has been airing "Have Gun Will Travel" and I love it! The closing theme song is marvelous. And I like Richard Boone as Paladin. Of course, NO one can top "Mr." John Dehner but Mr. Boone wasn't half bad either. He was only 2 years younger than John Dehner but he died 12 years earlier than JD and died of throat cancer. Anyway, I digress... it's just interesting to see a show to which I've listened for so long.
"Bright Star" sounds interesting if nothing else - I love Irene Dunne and Fred MacMurray. I'll be sure to listen. Only 4 months till "Earth Abides" but I don't have to wait now. I taped it last year and I admittedly got a CD of it, too. Some day I may even graduate to IPods or MP3 players. But don't hold your breath!

I was so surprised to hear that James Mason's daughter was named after Portland Hoffa. Somehow James and Pamela Mason never struck me as the types who would be close friends with Fred Allen and Portland Hoffa!! LOL

More great shows are on this week's schedule, have already heard Lux's Hope and Crosby.

Funny thing about some shows, like Gunsmoke. Another show will be finishing, Gunsmoke is coming on, and I want to go do something. I say I will just listen to a few minutes. Cannot turn it off. Every one of those Gunsmoke's are different, great. A tribute to just how talented those actors were, and the writers, producers.....

My favorite show is Dragnet, here's a twist. I bought a DVD of early Dragnet TV shows. Amazingly Webb apparently redid many of the radio shows on TV. So it's cool to watch a show that I have already heard on OTR. And the character actors, recognize them right off, now know just what they look like. One show had Dennis Weaver as a ballistics guy in the lab, before his Gunsmoke TV days.

Great to have all these shows at our fingertips.

Amanda

Imagine my surprise this morning when a case of insomnia hit me and I woke up to Johnny Dollar on the air? Fabulous!

Some wonderful things this week (the Johnny Dollar of course) and some of my other favs: Crime Classics, Phil Harris, and my hubby's fav It's Higgins.

Really curious to hear Bright Star. I don't think I've ever heard an episode.

Thanks for the great schedule Greg!

Don, you are spot on with the Bob Bailey/Eddie Haskall comparison! I have been trying to figure out who Bob Bailey looked like but could never figure it out.

Amanda, As Eddie would say, "Thank you very much, Mrs Cleaver, and may I say how how attractive you look tonight?"

Ken Osmond, who endeared himself to us as Eddie, has had a very interesting life. Google his name for info.

Hello Greg, big fan of Radio Classics!
Did you ever noticed that the Sea Hunt television theme (starring Lloyd Bridges) is awfully close to the Johnny Dollar theme? Or is it just me???
Tried to compare the two but cant find any sound files to do so.

Any ideas?
